Crestron Remootio Driver
Intro PriceOpen, close and monitor Remootio gate and garage door controllers from Crestron 4-Series systems over the Remootio WebSocket API, entirely on the local network. A Certified Drivers SDK driver with live position feedback, hold-open, and Crestron Home support as a native Garage Door device.

Overview
It is a Crestron Certified Drivers SDK driver (V2 Entity Model) with the native Garage Door device type. In SIMPL it is driven through Crestron's stock *Crestron Device Drivers Entry* module on a 4-Series processor, and it appears as a garage door in Crestron Home. It works the same whether the Remootio drives a gate or a garage door.
Feedback follows the gate - Open and closed state comes from the device's own events, so the control system stays correct when the gate is operated from a handheld remote, the Remootio app or a keypad. The driver also tells the program whether the installation has a position sensor at all, so a user interface can show "no sensor" instead of an unknown state.
Commands that behave like a remote - Toggle is a relay pulse, exactly what a handheld remote sends, so it works on every installation, sensor or not. Hold Open keeps the gate open for a configurable number of minutes using the device's own hold-output feature. A gate command is never sent late: if it cannot go within two seconds of the press it is dropped and logged rather than sent later.
Built for unattended sites - The driver reconnects by itself after a network interruption, raises an error when a gate does not finish moving within a minute, and surfaces the device's error codes with plain-English descriptions. Serial number, hardware generation and API version are read from the device.
Requirements - A Remootio device with the WebSocket API enabled in the Remootio app (Settings, Software, Websocket API); the API Secret Key and API Auth Key shown there are entered in the driver's configuration. Hold Open needs device software 2.24 or later. Position feedback needs a Remootio position sensor. A Crestron 4-Series control system.
Licensing - Every load begins a 30-minute trial, so the driver can be evaluated with no key. Activation is an AchKayEm license key entered in the driver's configuration, or, on a site with no internet, an offline activation code pasted into the same field. The license is stored on the processor and re-checked on every load without any call to the licensing service, so an activated system keeps working without internet access.
The download is a zip holding the driver package, the manual (PDF), the feature list and the change log.
Features
Key Features
Control
- Open, close and toggle from any Crestron user interface
- Toggle is a relay pulse, exactly what a handheld remote sends, so it works on every installation, sensor or not
- Hold Open for a configurable number of minutes, using the device's own hold-output feature
Feedback
- Live open and closed state from the device's own events, including gate movements started from a remote, the Remootio app or a keypad
- Reports whether the installation can sense position at all, so a program can show "no sensor" rather than an unknown state
- Online and ready indicators
- Device error codes with plain-English descriptions, and an error when a gate does not finish moving within a minute
- Serial number, hardware generation and Remootio API version read from the device
Connection
- Local network only; nothing is routed through Remootio's cloud and nothing leaves the site
- Encrypted and authenticated end to end (AES-256 with HMAC-SHA256), as the Remootio API requires
- Automatic reconnection after a network interruption or an unanswered keepalive
- A gate command is never sent late: a press that cannot go within two seconds is dropped and logged, not sent later
Platform
- Crestron Certified Drivers SDK driver (V2 Entity Model), native Garage Door device type
- Driven from SIMPL through Crestron's Crestron Device Drivers Entry module; appears as a garage door in Crestron Home
Licensing
- 30-minute trial on every load; no key needed to evaluate
- Activation with an AchKayEm license key, or an offline activation code on a site with no internet
- The license is stored on the processor and re-checked on every load with no call to the licensing service
- Licenses available for unlimited use or bound to specific control processors
Requirements
- Remootio device with the WebSocket API enabled; API Secret Key and API Auth Key from the Remootio app
- Device software 2.24 or later for Hold Open; a Remootio position sensor for position feedback
- Crestron 4-Series control system
Version history
No change to the driver, its signals or its behaviour: only the touch panel's page changes.
- The touch panel carries no logo: the header is the product title and the connection pill, the footer's maker line is plain text. A dealer can put the page on a customer's wall as it is (every HKM Crestron panel from common 0.5.6, 2026-11-02).
- Shared HKM code 0.5.9.
No change to the driver, its signals or its behaviour: the zip gains a sample SIMPL Windows program.
- A sample SIMPL Windows program in the zip:
AchKayEm_Crestron_Remootio_Driver_Sample_Program_v1.0.2.smw, withAchKayEm_Crestron_Remootio_Driver_Sample_Program_v1.0.2.mdon using it. It holds the Crestron Device Drivers Entry v1.1 module bound toDeviceIdRemootio1, the Crestron Device Drivers Configuration Socket API v1.1 module withStarttied high (the configuration server runs from program start), and an XPanel 2.0 Smart Graphics at IP-ID 03 wired to the Entry module exactly as the touch panel in the zip expects, for an RMC4. It compiles as it is. Before it runs, uploadAchKayEm_Crestron_Remootio_Driver_v1.0.2_3Series.pkgto the processor's/user/folder and register the device asRemootio1, with adevices.jsonin/user/Crestron.DeviceDrivers.Simpl/App1/or in the Device Driver Configuration Tool; its README lists the steps. - The licence in the zip is
AchKayEm_Crestron_Remootio_Driver_LICENSE_v1.0.2.txt(it had no extension, so it did not open on Windows). - Shared HKM code 0.5.5: the C# licensing contract gains an entry for the SIMPL+ modules' new
License_Codehandling, not applicable to this driver (it has no module parameter). Nothing in the driver changed.
1.0.1
No change to the driver, its signals or its behaviour. This release adds the touch panel to the zip.
